Obverse Celebrates 12th Year Anniversary as a Leader Specializing in Enterprise Architecture, System Integration and Custom Application Development

WASHINGTON, DC – January 17, 2014

Obverse, Incorporated, a leader specializing in enterprise architecture, system integration and custom application development for small to large organizations, announced today that January 17, 2014 marks the company’s 12th year anniversary of its founding.

Twelve years ago, conceptualized at the kitchen table, Obverse’s co-founders, James Detherage and Timothy Thompson collaborated their resources to create an Information Technology Consulting Firm. Mr. Detherage contributed his portfolio and well established history as an independent software consultant and Mr. Thompson’s strong background in sales established the foundation of the business. The founders of Obverse scoured the dictionary in an attempt to identify a word that represented the philosophy they wanted to implement in their practice. After identifying the word obverse, it became obvious that this would represent the company well. “obverse” 1. Facing or turned toward the observer. 2. Serving as a counterpart or complement. The company was named Obverse because it was one word, catchy and brand-able. Most of all, it was believed to coincide with the company’s philosophy in that the customer would view Obverse staff as a complement to their own. Another important comp any value was for our staff to be thorough and to look not only at the obvious but at the OBVERSE side of things as well. Shortly thereafter, Obverse was incorporated in the District of Columbia on January 17, 2002 with James Detherage (President/CEO) and Timothy Thompson (Executive Vice President) as owners. Obverse, Inc. was awarded their first big contract on March 8, 2002 and since then has grown to a multi-million dollar business. Since 2002 Obverse has successfully provided services for numerous organizations, which has already led to referrals and repeat business.

Today, Obverse headquartered in Washington, DC is a Local Small Disadvantage Business Enterprise (LSDBE) and SBA 8(a) business which specialize in enterprise architecture, system integration, security/information assurance, and custom application development, including wireless and web applications. Obverse’s technical resources are diverse and capable of working on multiple platforms, in various environments and with a full complement of tools. This allows Obverse to offer the best solution for their client’s business condition and environment. Obverse continuously works to stay abreast of the latest technology in order to better service their clients. They have gained a strong reputation for expertise in web-based enterprise solutions. Obverse’s application development teams have designed, developed and maintained a variety of applications for a host of government and commercial clients ranging from financial applications to immunization applications to grants trackin g and case management systems.

James Detherage said, “Obverse’s 12th anniversary is a tremendous milestone for the company. Over the past twelve years, we’ve introduced incredible innovation into the industry. We’ve always looked for better ways to implement business solutions, whether it’s by developing an application that is intuitive, robust and ecstatically pleasing user interfaces, as well as our deep understanding of the client’s business rules and culture. We’ve pioneered a truly ‘build and buy’ partnership with our customers that empowers their in-house teams to express their own unique ideas using our technology and achieve an unprecedented level of technical sophistication. We set the bar only by what we believe defines greatness. I am immensely proud to be leading a team of people who strive for perfection every day and relentlessly work to build the best software in the industry while delivering incredible service to our customers.“

Timothy Thompson said, “Twelve years ago, we started Obverse with the mindset that we could create a successful company and attract the most talented people in the industry by building superior technology, nurturing a corporate environment of collaboration and innovation, and committing to our customers a standard of excellence. Obverse has demonstrated this over 12 years and we look forward to continuing that culture of innovation and our relentless pursuit of perfection.” Thompson added, “To Obverse’s employees and customers, current and future, it has been a wonderful decade of achievements. I thank you for your dedication and loyalty to Obverse and our unique corporate culture, and to our commitment of achieving excellence. We’ve done amazing things together, but the best is still yet to come.
